Email subscriptions
When you subscribe, the site records your email address, the time of signup, the page where you subscribed, and the consent statement shown with the form. That information is used to send Brett A. Owens’s author emails and to maintain an accurate subscriber list.
Email provider
Subscriber addresses are processed by Resend, the service used to deliver these emails. They are not sold or rented. They are not added to the separate B. Owens Alpha Report mailing list.
Anonymous reading measurement
For published essays and stories, the site records daily aggregate counts for page opens, active reading sessions of at least 30 seconds, and approximate reading progress at 25, 50, 75, and 90 percent. These counts are not attached to a name, email address, account, or persistent reader profile. Temporary browser-session markers keep the same open page from counting a reading milestone more than once. Random event receipts allow failed requests to be retried without counting them twice.
General site analytics
The hosting provider processes basic traffic information. Google Analytics is optional and loads only when you choose “Allow analytics.” It can measure traffic sources, repeat visits, reading milestones, successful author signups, shares, and outbound clicks. It may process page paths, browser or device details, approximate location, and browser identifiers. Email addresses are not sent to Google Analytics. Choose “Analytics choices” in the footer to change your preference.
Your choice
Every author email includes an unsubscribe link. Using it stops future author emails. You may also request access to or deletion of your subscriber information by replying to an author email.
Site operation
Basic technical information may be processed by the site’s hosting provider to operate the website securely and reliably. BrettaOwens.com does not use the author signup form to collect payment information.
